Christmas Party Hair Ideas

Christmas party hair ideas

Hello there! ‘Tis the season to be jolly.

But really, it’s the time for ugly Christmas sweaters and pretty Christmas dresses. Either way, you’re going to need some hairstyles to go with your outfit. I had a fun time going through Pinterest searching for the cutest hairstyles that are also nice and easy to do, for the most part.

In addition to the tutorial pictures, I’m going to explain a little about what’s going on in them, just in case it’s not quite clear. These pictures are all you will need to know how to create the hairstyle. I made sure they break it down easily. Any of these tutorials can be used as guidelines so you can switch them up any way you want and I’m sure your hair will still turn out adorable.

So here are some gorgeous Christmas party hair ideas, not in any specific order!

Christmas Party Hair Ideas #1:
Pinned Half Updo

For the Pinned Half Updo, first section off the top part of your hair and put it in a ponytail.

Next, grab about an inch or two of hair from the left side of your hair and bobby-pin it over your ponytail.

Then grab a section from the right side of your hair and bobby-pin it over the other side of your ponytail.

Repeat the last two steps and you’re finished!

Christmas Party Hair Ideas #2:
Bow Bun

I recommend spraying your hair with a texture spray before attempting this hairstyle.

For the Bow Bun, first put your hair in a bun on top of your head.

Next, separate the bun into two equal sections.

Depending on the texture of your hair, you may need to bobby-pin the sides of the bow to your head before proceeding.

Then, take the hair left over from the bun and wrap it backwards to create the middle part of the bow. Bobby-pin this in the back.

Hair spray if needed.

Christmas Party Hair Ideas #3:
Backwards Bow Bun

I recommend spraying your hair with a texture spray for this hairstyle also.

For the Backwards Bow Bun, first take two equal sections from the side of your hair.

(leaving some hair in the front near your face will look better in the end)

Next, put these two equal sections into a bun in the back, with the remaining hair facing downwards.

Then, separate the bun into two equal sections and bobby-pin each side to the hair underneath.

Lastly, take the hair remaining from the bun and wrap it upwards to create the middle of the bow, bobby-pin it in place.

Christmas Party Hair Ideas #4:
Romantic Braid

This hairstyle is my personal favorite of the bunch.

For the Romantic Braid, first take a chunk of hair from the left side of your head and braid it.

Leave a few unbraided inches at the bottom and put a hair tie to keep the braid intact.

Next, Repeat the same thing for the right side of your head.

After you have the two sections braided, you can curl the remaining hair or just leave it natural. If you curl it, make sure to use a good heat protectant/hairspray such as Hot Off The Press.

Then, wrap each braid around the back of your head in a way that they are not overlapping.

Bobby-pin each side.

You can either remove the hair ties once you have the braids secured, or hide the ends under the braids.

Optional: If you’d like, you can gently pull on the hair on the top of your head to give it some volume.

Christmas Party Hair Ideas #5:
Perfect Pony

For the Perfect Pony, first curl your hair.

(Use a heat protectant/hairspray such as Hot Off The Press before curling. Some great hair curling styling tools are: Pink Curling Wand and BeLiss PRO Curl Genius)

After curling, section off the front half of your hair, and put the back half in a ponytail.

Next, take the whole left section of your hair and wrap it over the top of your ponytail. Secure with bobby-pins.

Then, take the whole right section of your hair and wrap it over your ponytail the same way. Secure with bobby-pins.

Hair spray the top section to prevent frizz.

  1. Hi Gina,
That was a very interesting article that you wrote on how a woman could style her hair into different patterns for the Christmas party(ies) that she might attend.
I’ve had previous girlfriends who spent a great deal of time with their hair. Several in fact each had very long hair.
My personal favorite is when the girl has her hair done in back into a nice French-braided ponytail, tied perhaps either with a ribbon or other hair utensil.

I have to give you gals a lot of credit. You’re more than willing to try new ideas as well as put up your hair into different styles. As for me well as you can see in my gravatar picture, my hair is now quite short. Other than washing it, I do nothing other than get it cut once per month.

The days of my hair grown long into an Afro, (back in the early-mid 1970’s) and spending time daily combing it out with a pick are now long gone! In fact I don’t even own a comb!

That was a super article and you provided much information to the female visitor who is looking to perhaps “change up” a bit and style her hair into a unique and different design for the holidays.

    Take care,
    Jeff

    • Jeff,

French braids are nice for the holidays!

As women, it’s so much easier for us to stick with what we know. But then how are we ever going go try out new things, new hairstyles, etc? Trying out some new Pinterest hairstyles are very inspiring and will lead to learning more complex ways of styling. I’m glad you enjoyed my post.

  2. I have really long hair and I’m always trying to find things to do with it.

I bookmarked your site so I can refer back to it in the future.

What do you recommend for the frizzes? It is very dry where I live and my hair is susceptible to static! don’t like that at all, it’s flying away constantly.

    thanks!

  3. I love parties, especially Christmas. These are the only parties that I really love actually. I like your article it looks very nice and clear. Perfect hair ideas. I’ll ask my wife to make the Backwards Bow Bun.

Thank you very much for you article. I will save you in my bookmarks, so I can back later and explore. Have a nice day

    • Elita,

Christmas parties are so much fun. I hope my article makes the backwards bow bun easy for your wife.

      Thanks for bookmarking!

  4. Wow, these hairdos are so cute, and not only for a Christmas party. I love the bow hairdos, I’ve never seen it before. Can’t wait till my hair grows a little longer so I can try them out. Some look a bit difficult, Would be great if you could also upload a video!

    • Kams,

The bows can be a little tricky. You have to get your hair the right texture for them to work.

I will consider doing a video!

  5. Hi,

My wife has very long hair and is always trying to find something new to do with it. I love all the options for styles and the pics make it so easy to follow along.

I know we’ve also been through more than a couple of hair straighteners. Your reviews on them will definitely save us both time and money!

    Thanks!

    • Lettherebelunde,

I hope your wife tries out some of these styles and loves them!

It’s so easy to go through straighteners until you find a good quality one that’ll last you very long, like the GVP straightener.
