My Rating: 9/10

The GVP Hot Pink Ceramic Flat Iron 1 Inch was my first and only ‘flat iron love’. This was not the first flat iron I have ever owned but it’s the first one I have loved. It is another one of those must-have products for the ladies who appreciate quality hair styling tools and love the color pink. Even if you don’t love the color pink, you could just grab a different color!

This hot pink flat iron is special for the same reasons my pink curling iron is.

Why the GVP Hot Pink Ceramic Flat Iron 1 Inch ?

It is not overly expensive.

There are brands that will have you paying over $100 for the same quality as a GVP flat iron.

It’s pretty.

The GVP Hot Pink Ceramic Flat Iron 1 is made for grown princesses, like me. Pink is such a lovely color.. so lovely that having a collection of pink styling tools will make you feel pretty awesome.

It heats up in seconds.

I love this straightener because you don’t have to wait long to begin styling your hair. It heats up quickly and you don’t have to go over each piece a hundred times to get it straight.

It has astounding ratings.

This flat iron has been rated 4.9/5 stars by customers.

Q & A

♦ Question: How hot does it get?

Answer: It heats up to a whopping 420°F. Just like any hot styling tool, you should not automatically put the flat iron on the highest heat setting. Set it according to your hair. Thin hair should use a lower heat setting (as low as you can go with it still working to straighten your hair) and thick hair will probably need more heat. Using the hottest setting won’t make your hair straighter or last longer; it will only potentially damage your delicate hair.

♦ Question: Will it fry my hair?

Answer: You should never use any heat products without first spraying a heat protectant. The ceramic plates on the GVP flat iron maintain an even temperature at all times so there aren’t any damaging hot spots but a heat protectant is still necessary. My favorite ones are Hot Off The Press, Milkshake Incredible Milk and Just Natural Heat Protection.

♦ Question: Is this flat iron hard to squeeze?

Answer: This straightener has a lightweight ergonomic design which makes it so you don’t have to squeeze very hard to press your hair between the plates. This is especially good for those with arthritis or any wrist problems overall, which is something that I have issues with.

♦ Question: What is the length of the cord?

Answer: The cord is one of the many great things about the GVP flat iron. It has a lengthy 9 foot cord that swivels 360º. This makes it very easy to use without getting tangled or having short-cord problems.

♦ Question: What is the size of the plates?

Answer: The plates are 1 inch wide.

♦ Question: Are there any cons?

Answer: Straighteners are likely to burn the surface they are set on because most of them don’t have a stand, which is typical. I set my flat iron on top of a glove to keep it from burning the wood on my vanity set. I honestly can’t think of anything else. I have never even had to clean my flat iron before.

  1. This flat iron is quite pretty. There are some women in my life I can recommend this to, possibly for gifts too. It seems like a nice deal for a quality product. I like how you mentioned there are different color options since not all women like the color pink.

    • Rodney,

Yes this GVP flat iron would make for great gifts for any of the ladies you may know. It’s good for all hair types and lengths. There are such cute color options like I mentioned, you should check them out.

  2. Another great product review Gina. Christmas is looming so this could well be a wise purchase for the better half. Is this your top recommended product of this nature?? Do you have any other reviews of similar items? many thanks. As mentioned this could be helpful for the christmas stocking!

  3. Hey Gina,

You laid out your review on GVP Hot Pink Ceramic Iron very excellently. I love the honest question and answer portion that really can help add information to whoever had interest to purchase this product. I like its promotional marketing that it has free dryer if purchased before the date mentioned in the article. My sister is using an old one, maybe she will like this product. I will share your post to her.

    • Achuthan,

Thank you, you have such kind words to say. I’m glad my review was easy to follow for you and will be a good read for others as well.

  5. Thanks for sharing about the GVP Hot Pink flat iron.

I just have a few questions… I keep hearing that the only flat iron to get is GHD but they have always seemed so expensive every time I looked at them.

About 2 years ago I bought a flat iron (sorry can’t remember the brand but it was not expensive at all) and I found it did not do a very good job at all.

How would you compare this GVP with a GHD? What are the prices like? Maybe consider adding in a comparison chart to GHD on your article? Or maybe it is just me wondering about the comparison 🙂

    • Lynne,

I will consider creating comparison charts for blog posts in the future. GHD stands for ‘good hair day’. It is just another brand out there that seems to get a lot of buzz. I believe the GHD products are overpriced.

GVP stands for ‘generic value products’. This means it is a generic product of the more expensive flat irons. Usually, generic products offer the same great value as the more expensive brands but at a much better price. The GVP flat iron is surely a steal.

  6. Thanks for the wonderful review! I actually depend on my straightener almost every day so it was nice to another option. I specifically liked your question and answer section. There were some questions there that I didn’t even know I would have but certainly appreciated the answer.

I will definitely look into this straightener when my current straightener finally bites the dust. Thanks Again!

  7. These hair straighteners look really good. Such a reasonable price too!

My GHDs just broke the other day. The wire unplugged from the straightener end. I’m not sure if it’s fixable, but it’s about time I got a new set. When I touched the plug I got an electric shock!

Thanks for sharing this with us. I am definitely considering these plus my birthday is next week

    • Hannah,

Yikes that’s not good. I’ve had my GVP flat iron for years and years and have never had any problems with it. It works the same way as when I bought it brand new too.

      Happy early birthday Hannah!

  8. Gina, this is a great review! Thank you. I’m a hair straightener user everyday, so I was interested to read a review on a straighter different to mine. Your Q & A section contained excellent information. I found it interesting that hair product should be used before using a straightener, something I never do!

    • Kym,

Oh goodness no! It’s so important to use a heat protectant product before any kind of hot styling. Be sure to check out my recommendations. 🙂
