It takes a lot of time and patience to actually get your hair to grow in thicker by using supplements such as Hair Skin & Nail products. Although those are things you should invest in, you can learn how to make hair look thicker instead, while waiting for results.
Here are the tricks on how to make hair look thicker:
In the shower, make sure to really massage your head while shampooing as one way to stimulate the scalp. Try not to use a moisturizing shampoo since it will usually weigh your hair down causing it to be more flat and look thinner. Also, rinse the conditioner out very well to protect your hair from buildup.
Blow dry your hair upside down on the COLD setting after washing it to add volume without causing damage. Here is a blog post showing you how to dry your hair quicker if you’re interested in that.
Never sleep on wet hair. It will enhance the flatness/thinness of your hair which you don’t want, as well as causing a muggy frizzy look. I would just recommend not showering in the evening at all since it’s hard to make sure your hair will be fully dry by the time you lay down.
Incorporate a quality texture spray, such as the Big Sexy Hair brand into your styling process. It will add effortless volume which is perfect when you’re trying to make hair look thicker.
Curl your hair with a curling wand from Plugged In for a thick voluminous look. It’s my favorite curling wand and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
However, never curl without an exceptional heat protection hairspray like Hot Off The Press. If you don’t already use this, I highly recommend trying it –you won’t regret it. It’s one of the few thermal protection sprays that creates thickness and gives your hair more volume while protecting from damage and frizz.
Last but definitely not least, color in your part. The less your scalp shows through your part, the more full and thick your hair will look. So how do you do this? DRY SHAMPOO. Not just any kind will work the same though. Batiste Dry Shampoo has unique qualities unlike other dry shampoos because you can choose different ones according to the color of your hair. (The only exception to this would be for blondes since your part doesn’t really show like it does for darker haired ladies.) You can make your hair appear more full by dry shampooing and fluffing up your part.
Check this out. Left is before, and right is a few minutes later after dry shampooing. I use the Dark and Deep Brown color.
Now you know how to make hair look thicker.
