Whether you have naturally curly hair that needs enhancement/frizz help or have straight hair that won’t hold curls, Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancing Hair Spray is something you don’t want to miss out on.

I have a friend with the most stuborn hair ever. It just won’t hold a curl. After plenty of research, I came across this Aveda product. With the number of people who swear by this curl enhancing hair spray, I just had to get it for my friend. It turns out the reviewers weren’t lying!

How to Use

First I’d like to mention that Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancing Hair Spray works best when applied to damp hair.

Begin with clean showered hair. Use your favorite heat protectant product and work it through your hair. Spray the curl enhancing hair spray evenly throughout your hair while it is still damp. Go through your hair with a wide tooth comb and scrunch a little bit while you apply it.

Here’s where you can choose what you want to do next. Some people like to use a diffuser on their hair to create curls. Some just use a blow dryer normally then curl their hair with a curling iron or wand. Others do both!

Watch the video below to see how the Aveda products work together to create the perfect hairstyle.

As you can see, the video shows how the different Aveda products are used to create curls. The model has some natural curls so the diffuser option works really well for her.

Q & A

Question: Does the curl enhancing spray make your hair crunchy or hard?

Answer: A really great plus of this product is that it won’t make your hair crunchy unless you way over apply it. Just like any product, if you use too much, it builds up and has bad results.

Question: Can you use it on dry hair?

Answer: You can but you don’t get the best result that way. The spray blends very easily into damp hair and retracts when it dries to really define and hold your curls. Once your hair is dry and styled, you can spray some more for extra hold.

Question: If my hair won’t ever hold any curls, will this help?

Answer: This is the perfect product for those with extra stubborn hair. It makes the most difficult hair hold curls.

Question: What are the cons?

Answer: Like I mentioned above, if you use way too much product, it can get crunchy. Another thing is that the top can get clogged. When this happens, just run the nozzle under hot water and it will clear it right up. If you do this after each use, it will prevent the clogging.

  1. This is great my wife has been looking for hair curling enhancing spray for a while now. I’m a guy as you can tell. So this isn’t really my cup of tea. But I do have a wife and 4 little girls. I will share your site with her and be sure to let my girls know that mommy will have a new hair surprise for them soon.

Thanks I will let you know how it goes.

    • Heathguy33.

I bet your wife will be happy you found her a good curl enhancing spray. She’s going to feel like a brand new woman!

  2. Hi Gina,

My hair sometimes naturally get some curls on the ends, sometimes they can be almost completely straight without any of my efforts. I was reading about shampoos who could define your natural curls or wavy hair little bit mot I think this would work the same. I might try this out.

    • Jolita,

I think the Aveda hair spray is a good idea. They have shampoo and conditioner too. When all of their products are used together you get the best result!

  3. I really wanted to get a curl enhancing spray, however I have pretty straight hair and not many sprays last more than 5 hours on my hair just that I need to use tongs after 5 hours again or they get too messed up, so what suggestions do you have for me and how can I make my hair much better than what it is now?
    Great post and keep writing!

    • Shrey,

Good news, I’m publishing a blog post this week on how to make curls stay in stubborn hair! Check back on Wednesday. 🙂

  4. I have naturally straight hair so keeping curls in my hair has always been difficult. I tried changing my hair for a different look, adding all sorts of curling sprays and using excessive heat with a curling iron to keep it curly but within an hour the curls would drop. The Aveda curl enhancer looks interesting. Thank you for this post, very informative with instructional video and the Q&A section to help answer any possible questions on the product.

I will most certainly check out this product.

    • Shireen,

Now you can get rid of those curling sprays that don’t work and replace them with this. I’m publishing a blog post tomorrow on a full routine to keep curls in straight hair. Don’t miss it! 🙂
