Size: 250 softgels per bottle

My Rating: 9/10

Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails is my new favorite hair supplement! All of the different vitamins and minerals work so well to support lustrous hair, strong nails, and vibrant skin. The Futurebiotics brand is what I always recommended before but now things have changed. These pills are much smaller (and cuter), easier to swallow, plus no bad taste since they are softgels. Another huge plus is the price. They are super cheap compared to many of the brands that people are trying to sell you.

So what’s in it?

• Vitamin A

• Vitamin C

• Vitamin D

• Vitamin E

• Thiamin (Vitamin B-1)

• Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2)

• Niacin

• Vitamin B-6

• Folic Acid (Vitamin B-9)

• Vitamin B-12

• Biotin

• Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B-5)

• Iron

• Zinc

• Selenium

• Manganese

*In addition, there are ingredients such as Argan Oil, Collagen, Horsetail, and some other items that are beneficial for hair-growth.

Below is a photo of the directions: Take 3 softgels daily, preferably with a meal. I don’t quite follow these instructions. I take 2 at once with a meal, then later on I take 1 with another meal. This way makes it easier for me to remember to take them all every day.

What are the pros?

1 ) Quicker hair growth

2 ) New hair that grows will be shinier, stronger, healthier

3 ) Stronger and harder nails

4 ) Glowing skin

5 ) Easy to swallow pink softgels

6 ) Has antioxidants

7 ) Cheaper than most competing brands

8 ) All the vitamins you need for healthy hair, skin, and nails

9 ) This bottle of 250 softgels will last you over 2.5 months

10 ) Guaranteed free of wheat, gluten, milk, lactose, sugar and preservatives.

Are there any cons?

1 ) Some people have mentioned that they started to have some acne after taking this product. If your body is not used to vitamin supplements and large amounts of biotin, this is possible.

Therefore, I recommend starting off taking only 1 softgel a day, then increase to 2, and then when you think your body is ready you can start taking the daily dosage of 3 softgels per day. (You don’t have to do this, but if your body is not used to taking hair skin & nails vitamins then I would just do it this way to be safe)

I have not noticed any negative side effects from taking Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails but I have read the acne complains from some other reviewers.

2) The container doesn’t smell that great. Don’t worry, the actual softgels are fine though. They don’t have any taste or aftertaste.

In conclusion, Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails has all the ingredients you need to get your hair growing the way you want it to but you’ll have to be patient and not expect overnight changes. Hair supplements don’t effect the existing hair on your scalp –they work on your health and hair growth from the inside out. What WILL change is the new hair that grows in. You’ll notice that it is stronger, healthier, shinier, and grows more quickly as a result of this hair skin & nails supplement.

  1. Thanks for this! Since I turned around 45 my hair has been gradually thinning. I started to take Biotin (2caps2xday) and i cannot tell if it’s working or not. My hair just seems to fall out when I wash it, which really concerns me. I’m sure it has to do with menopause and hormones. What else do you recommend besides this supplement? Curious, did you start taking it due to hair loss?

  2. Natures Bounty sounds like a great product! I have been applying Argan Oil to my hair – shampoo, conditioner and topical oil – and my hair is now in much better condition. I am surprised to know that this oil is something that can be taken internally. A lot of the ingredients that are in Natures Bounty are also in my multi-vitamins. Do you know if I should be concerned with taking too much of any of the ingredients, since some vitamins can be harmful if you overdose.

    • Erin,

Awesome! Argan oil is great.. just like coconut oil.

About your question, if you start taking Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails, you would take that in place of your multivitamin. You don’t need both. Hair Skin & Nails supplements are basically ‘hair growth multivitamins’. However I do still take a separate magnesium supplement since it’s not in the HSN and it’s important.

  3. Thanks Gina, great review. Beauty takes place from the inside out. Giving your body the nutrients it needs to produce healthy hair, skin, and nails is fundamental. Nature’s Bounty is a good company. I have other supplements from them. It’s great that they don’t have unnecessary ingredients and are gluten free. It is a good recommendation to start with 1 softgel and increase as tolerated. Thanks again.

    • Tugarcia,

Thanks! I agree of course. Most people don’t think about the importance of vitamins and minerals for the body. Also the fact that they’re gluten free is awesome. You don’t have to worry about any possible gluten intolerance for anyone in the household.

  4. This is great information. My mother lives in a very cold and dry climate and is always looking for ways to make her hair look more vibrant and less dried out. Do you think this type of supplement would help her achieve that goal? I will make sure to pass this on to her all the same. Thank you.
